PITT OHIO, a $900 million, high service, highly profitable, transportation solutions provider offering SUPPLY CHAIN, GROUND, LTL and TRUCKLOAD services is seeking a Claims Prevention Coordinator- Operations to join our team at our Monroe, MI Terminal.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties

  • Communicate with both internal and external customers on a wide range of issues. These include, but are not limited to, calls regarding shortages and damages, problem calls from drivers, pick up calls, tracing, proof of delivery (POD's), rates, and claims issues.
  • Responsible for doing a thorough, daily dock check, itemizing any shipments or pieces of shipment remaining on the dock that need to move or be investigated.
  • Attend weekly shift meetings and talk to employees about any over, short, and damage (OS&D) issues. If you cannot attend, the topic for discussion must be given to Terminal Manager in advance of the meeting.
  • Thoroughly review the weekly Claims Report, rebutting any claims that should not be paid.
  • Communicate daily  with Terminal Manager and supervisors on any quality issues and high value exceptions and claims.
  • Daily audit bills of lading, delivery receipts, and all operations movement documents for notation errors. Share errors with Terminal Manager for tracking on CPPA Tracking log.
  • Minimize the Company’s claims exposure through investigation and communication with customers and employees on possible claims.

 

Other Duties

  • Work with Terminal Managers and supervisors to minimize claims through training and education of workers and supervisors via shift meetings.
  • Communicate with customers on any issues concerning SL&C trailers or any other issues that effect our ability to move their freight for next day delivery.
  • Review quality of service by investigating for damages and/or shortages and take appropriate action to rectify or prevent future, similar issues.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Command of English language to communicate effectively with internal and external customers
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Previous claims experience is a plus, but not necessary.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills are required
  • Must be competent and proficient in Microsoft Office Software products
  • Must possess strong typing skills
  • Ability to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned

  • Monday through Friday, hours may vary depending on department needs. No weekend hours and minimal overtime required

  • Close visual acuity is required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, viewing computer terminal, and extensive reading.
  • Typical exposure to interior environmental conditions like air conditioning and dust; no substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
  • Potential candidates must be able to endure a noisy, dirty and quick paced environment with many interruptions
  • Candidates must be physically able to endure year-round weather conditions
  • Manual dexterity is regularly required including fingering, grasping, and typing; manual dexterity includes repetitive motion of the wrists, hands, and fingers.
  • Talking and hearing required to communication with and listen to others to share or receive information.  May be occasionally exposed to noise including telephone, office machinery, and conversations of others.
